The Oman Research Grant for a visiting research fellowship of three months at ZMO, Berlin, in fields related to Omani studies

Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orientin Berlin (ZMO), Germany, is inviting applications for the newly created Oman Research Grant, sponsored by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science. The Grant comprises funding for a research stay of up to 3 months, starting either in late 2020 or in 2021 at ZMO, as well as travel costs to Berlin, for the successful candidate. We are seeking to attract an outstanding postdoctoral scholar who is engaged in projects in research fields related to Omani Studies. ZMO expects all fellows to participate in the center’s academic life and to give one presentation on their project. The awarded fellow is to acknowledge the research grant achievements and publications as “Funded by The Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science” and to provide the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science with five copies of publications funded by the grant. The grant will be worth 2,500 Euro per month, in addition to the costs of travel of up to 500 Euro.

 

The review of applications by the Selection Committee (comprising ZMO researchers and one employee of the Omani Embassy as an observer) will be finalized by the end of September. Applications should be sent by email only, and include:

• A brief cover letter (1 page)•Description of a research project to be worked upon during the visit (max. 3 pages)

• CV, including a complete list of publications

• Ph.D. certificate (or proof of submission)
